Should the Cavs Let LeBron Walk at Season’s End?

This season for the Cavs so far has not been the prettiest at all. It has been a very up & down road whether it has been long winning streaks or long losing streaks, inconsistent play on the defensive end of the floor, lineup changes, etc. The most lingering question over this Cavs team is whether LeBron James is going to stay or leave at season’s end. This is a question that has been brought up all season and there is very much speculation to what decision is going to be made. It’s been reports about him listening to the Golden State Warriors if they were able to offer him a max deal. Reports about him cursing out management about front office moves. Also reports about him being upset about the Cavs trading for Isaiah Thomas instead of Paul George.

What I personally feel about that is the Cavs really need to just cut their ties with LeBron & just start over. It seems like ever since the season started it has been nothing drama surrounding the Cavs. The Kyrie Irving trade, bringing in new pieces, friction in the locker room, friction in the front office, etc. Personally, I feel the drama starts with LeBron James. I see it in his personality to how much he complains to refs for foul calls when he really isn’t fouls. See the dunk he missed against the Thunder last season and cried for a foul to be called on Victor Oladipo. I feel he wants everything to go in his favor and when it doesn’t he doesn’t respond well to it.

He was complaining last season about how the roster needed to be changed and this was after the fact that his team had just come off being the defending champs. It feels like he’s the creator of a lot of the drama in the Cavs organization and I feel once he walks out the door the Cavs organization can really be at peace and start things over and really re-evaluate. I feel that Kyrie Irving would have never have been gone without the LeBron James ordeal. He wanted out so bad that he was threatening to give the reason of knee surgery to sit out.

Just within these last few days there has been a lot of change on the Cavs roster and I feel it has a lot to do with LeBron complaining to the front office about the roster. They traded away Channing Frye, Isaiah Thomas, Derrick Rose, Jae Crowder, Iman Shumpert, & Dwyane Wade. In return they got back Rodney Hood, Jordan Clarkson, Larry Nance Jr., & George Hill. Those moves still aren’t going to work because they are still going to take time to gel, it’s too much of an overhaul, & they aren’t going to compete in the NBA Finals again this year. It’s too much going on for them to repeat as 4x Eastern Conference champs. In my opinion they did all the moves to appease LeBron when he’s going to walk out at season’s end.

It’s time for both sides to split apart, go separate ways, & start fresh. I know I’m going to get a lot of grief for having this opinion, but I feel the way I feel and it’s really nothing that anyone can say to me to make me change opinion.

Super Bowl LII Preview & Predictions

The big game has finally come upon us. After a long and rough NFL season it has finally come down to the final 2. Super Bowl LII is here. This year’s game features a rematch of Super Bowl XXXIX between The New England Patriots of the AFC vs. The Philadelphia Eagles of the NFC. There has been much build up to this game. Can the Patriots repeat & capture a 6th championship in the Brady-Belichick era or will the Eagles win their first Super Bowl in franchise history? I’m going to give an answer to one of these questions.

Matchups

Patriots Offense vs. Eagles Defense

The Patriots offense will be toughly tested in this matchup due to the tough scheme ran by the Eagles Defense. The Eagles front four led by DT Fletcher Cox will bring the one element that can limit the Pats offense and that’s getting pressure on Tom Brady up the middle. Teams that have had success getting pressure on Brady up the middle as well as the outside have had better shots at beating the Pats. The Eagles secondary is very underrated led by All-Pro S Malcolm Jenkins. The Eagles will be helped by the Pats not really having that big down the field deep threat. With that said the Pats short passing game with a fully healthy Gronk, Brandin Cooks, & Danny Amendola will truly test the Eagles linebacking core. Pats RB’s James White & Dion Lewis ability to catch the ball out of the backfield will be the x-factor on whether the Pats offense will steadily move the ball against the top 5 Eagles defense. I feel the Eagles defensive team speed will be enough to keep the Pats offense at bay.
Advantage: Eagles Defense

Patriots Defense vs. Eagles Offense
This matchup is a bit of a toss-up with the Eagles coming off a VERY game against a top 5 Vikings defense & The Pats defense being a more of a schematic type defense that plays a bend but don’t break style & are very opportunistic. Most thought the Eagles offense would drop off losing MVP candidate QB Carson Wentz but so far that hasn’t been the case. Backup QB Nick Foles has played very well in his 2nd stint with the Eagles. The offense hasn’t missed a beat. The addition of RB Jay Ajayi via trade has worked dividends for them and helping balance the offense. The Pats D is stacked on the back end with DB’s Malcom Butler, Stephon Gilmore, & Devin McCourty. The burning question for me is can the Pats bring enough pressure on Foles to really rattle his game & force him into bad decisions. Eagles receivers Alshon Jeffery, Torrey Smith, & Nelson Agholor can pose a threat, but the Pats have enough veteran experience & schematic knowledge to slow the Eagles down.

Advantage: Patriots Defense

Coaching:

Bill Belichick Vs. Doug Pederson

Bill Belichick is the G.O.A.T of head coaches in my opinion. I feel he is the master of making in game adjustments & changing the game plan according to the flow of the game. Doug Pederson has taken this Eagles team to heights that NO ONE expected from the at the season’s beginning. Most didn’t predict this Eagles team to make the playoffs let alone being in the Super Bowl. Both have done excellent jobs this season overcoming big injuries. For the Pats big time weapon Julian Edelman went down in pre-season with a Torn ACL. For the Eagles LT Jason Peters went down for the year as well as QB Carson Wentz. The question I have is “Can Doug Pederson adjust his game plan if it doesn’t go well?”.

Advantage: Bill Belichick
